I'm so excited!! I went to a thrift store and found the most perfect book to alter for this project!!! It's the Reader's Digest Book of Christmas. The cover is red and says in gold lettering "The Book of Christmas". It's perfect and won't need altering at all. Then the pages are filled with Christmas stories, history, poems and pictures. I'm going to be able to use so much of the book. All this goodness and it cost me $1. Ü

I've misplaced my camera (I'm afraid it may be somewhere on my craft table YIKES!) As soon as I find it, I'll post a few pictures. Guess I'd better get to straightening that table off if I'm ever going to get to this awesome project!

BTW, I still plan to work on mine more before I put it away for next year. And we continue to get some people purchasing...so you're not the only one! =)

Gemma, if it makes you feel better, one of my earlier attempts at an altered book didn't go over so well, either. Sometimes I find, when trying a new medium, that I struggle with the design and I have to remind myself that everything you know about designing a scrapbook page applies to other types too. Your cards take place of the photos.

I've been diligently working on my book for the past week. It's been a learning experience, I have to say. It's not turning out quite like I'd hoped, but I do still love it, if for the idea of collecting all those lovely cards and pictures, if not for my hamfisted design of the book. I will try to post pics later, if anyone wants a good laugh, that is...
Anyone else working on theirs, or has everyone else given up for next year?@?!

I had trouble finding the Gel medium you used Noell, but found an Australian made brand that has worked fantastically so far. Definatley wouldn't go back to modge podge after using it.

For any Australian's or (maybe even NZ/Asia) looking for Gel Medium, I used the Derivan MATISSSE brand. Its the same company that makes Kindy Glitz. I purchased mine at Riot Art for $14.95 for a 250ml jar, but i'm thinking you could probably find it at Spotlight too?

I picked up a book at the dolloar store and now I think I should read it first! I also was able to get some of the gel medium and plan to watch the video again, to gather all the supplies for this project! Can't wait to start.

I just bought a book today. I'm playing with some of the papers in the Die Cut with a View Christmas Glitter pack for the paper. It has a lot of fun not overly traditional colors. I'll post pix as it progresses.
